The Melbourne Food & Wine Festival 2024 will take place from March 15 to March 24. It will offer a 10-day journey through Melbourne’s culinary wonders. The festival is presented by La Trobe Financial and supported by Visit Victoria.

With over 300 events spread across the city, this year’s festival promises an unforgettable experience for food and wine enthusiasts.

The Melbourne Food Festival

The Melbourne Food Festival is an annual event where people come together to enjoy a wide variety of delicious food and drinks. It features over 300 different events spread across Melbourne, including special dining experiences, cooking demonstrations, and food tastings.

The festival showcases the talents of local chefs as well as international culinary experts, offering a unique opportunity to explore different cuisines and flavors.

Festival Highlights

The Melbourne Food & Wine Festival kicks off with some fan-favourite events, including the World’s Longest Lunch, led by renowned chef Andrew McConnell and the World’s Longest Brunch, featuring new-wave Indian cuisine by chefs Harry Mangat, Helly Raichura, and Mischa Tropp.

The Festival will showcase culinary talents worldwide, collaborating with local restaurants and bars.

Dans-Diner

Garima Arora, known for her innovative Indian cuisine at Gaa in Bangkok, will host a residency at Crown’s former Fat Duck/Dinner space. Sarah Cicolini from Rome’s Santo Palato will offer authentic Italian flavours in North Melbourne.

Orfali Bros, the Middle East’s top-ranked restaurant, will take over Maha for two nights. Sam Tran from Hanoi’s Gia, Dan Hong, Neil Perry, Jonathan Zaragoza from Chicago’s Birrieria Zaragoza, Kanji Kobayashi from Michelin-starred Villa Aida, Lauren Eldridge from Berowra Waters Inn, and London’s Noble Rot founders will also participate.

The 2024 Global Dining Series promises to exchange culinary ideas and flavours.

The Melbourne Food & Wine Festival will once more take place at Fed Square, drawing food lovers day and night to savour Melbourne’s culinary delights.

Fed Square Events

At Fed Square, there are exciting events during the festival:

  1. The Pizza Sessions by Gozney: You can enjoy delicious pizzas made in partnership with Gozney, featuring guest talents like Joel Bennetts, Ellie Bouhadana, Casey Wall, and Lucy Whitlow. Dates: Saturday, March 23, and Sunday, March 24.
  2. Celebrity Sausage by Bakers Delight: Experience the Aussie tradition of sausage sandwiches with sausages from performers like Clare Bowditch, Daen Lia, and Sarah Todd. Dates: Saturday, March 23, and Sunday, March 24.
  3. Baker’s Dozen: Indulge in Melbourne’s love for cakes and baking with top bakers like Black Star, Tarts Anon, Bread Club, Holy Sugar, and Kudo. Dates: Saturday, March 23, and Sunday, March 24.
  4. Dan’s Diner by Dan Murphy’s: Enjoy a unique dining experience with chefs like Dan Hunter, Daniel Puskas, and Daniel Wilson, offering a variety of food and drinks. The diner hosts special dinners, activities, and guest talent over the festival’s 10 days. Dates: Friday, March 15, to Sunday, March 24.

The Global Dining Series

  1. Garima Arora, owner and chef of Bangkok hotspot Gaa, brings her Michelin-starred Indian cuisine to Crown Melbourne for a residency from March 15 to 24.
  2. Sarah Cicolini, renowned for her contemporary trattoria cooking at Rome’s Santo Palato, will serve life-changing pasta at Seven Seeds every night during the festival from March 15 to 24.
  3. Sichuan master chef Zhang Fa demonstrates authentic mapo tofu from Chengdu at Chef David on March 15, 16, and 17.
  4. Noble Rot founders Dan Keeling, Mark Andrew, and chef Stephen Harris join Marion on March 20 for a memorable wine experience.
  5. Jonathan Zaragoza, known for his roasted goat in Chicago, brings Birrieria Zaragoza to The Lincoln Hotel in Carlton on March 20.
  6. Sam Tran from Hanoi’s Gia showcases contemporary Vietnamese cuisine at Aru, the 2023 Good Food Guide restaurant of the year, on March 19 and 20.
  7. Mohamed Orfali, co-owner and chef of Dubai’s Orfali Bros, collaborates with Shane Delia at Maha on March 19 and 20.
  8. Eat Drink Westside presents Westside Wanders, a series of moveable feasts across Melbourne’s west, including Werribee, Footscray, Ascot Vale, and Sunshine. The event offers intimate groups of food lovers a mini tour of three venues with bites and drinks at each spot.
